We have to see!

What do you think of yourself acting in a public space?

Since the experience, I have realized that we are part of the city until we really coexist inside it, that many times we are just passing by and we don’t even give us the opportunity to observe it. To be in a public space, because the reality of our country, we feel insecure the majority of time we spend on it and we want to be there the less time we could even more if we are alone, having company give us a little of confidence but if you stop for a minute to see beyond the buildings or the stuffs in front of us and perceive the dynamics of the people is a fact that allows us to have an intimate moment with the city. Doing the exercise of the workshop I realized that even for an instant we can establish links, indirectly, with the people around because we share a reason to be or just because the fact to share the space and even though standing and waiting on a bus stop the life seems just great.

What do you think of El Salvadorian attitude in public space is?

It seems to me, that a good part of the people who frequent the public spaces aren’t aware anymore of the reality of their environment because the custom or for the fact just to be passing, the places seem so insecure and the reality of the country has generated disregard and strong social barriers. Who use them has proper them directly and indirectly of the city, some of them on a good way, some others in the incorrect way. It can exist many situations like still having confidence or feeling as a stranger, or feeling you are part of it or just like that you don’t belong at all. To conclude, I think, at the end, we are living a complex social situation that often, as José Saramago said: “I think we are blind. Blind people who can see, but do not see
