We decidedto explore a place that really embodied the meaning of discovery, where everypersonal experience and every time you visit that same place, the spatial organizations, the food, the smells, the people and the way they react are always differentand new.
We visitedtwo important eateries in the surroundings of Antiguo Cuscatlán. First we spentsome time in the park of Antiguo Cuscatlán and a popular nearby pususería.There we understood why the layout of these restaurants is the way it is, mostimportantly for the relation between the cook and the costumer. In our cultureis really common to find the kitchen in the front of the pupuserias, as a wayof selling the product by attracting you with the smells and the easy visualcontact with the product you are about to consume, also this aspect is really importantin a psychological manner, for it makes the costumer feel as he or she is incontrol of what is going on with their food.

Later thatsame day, we went to the Antiguo Cuscatlán market place. There we experiencethe routine that many workers in the area do every day at lunch time. Wediscover that the place we looked down on was actually convenient, picturesqueand full of new aspects to inspire us in different ways every time you analyzethem. Foods we didn’t know existed, relations between costumer-owner that we didn’texpect, architectural aspects in the actual building that made us feel comfortablein the location…
Anotherimportant aspect we take from the whole “marketplace” experience is the closenessin the actions going on. The way the tables are set up, the nearness betweenthe kitchen and hallway with the sitting area, all of these facts reflecting onand ironic response from the users that didn’t interact with each other andmade us think that this is a clear demonstration of the social costumes in the Salvadoriansociety nowadays.
