Site visit: La Cuchilla Community (IN)FORMALITY

Our first impression of La Cuchilla community, rather than fear was uncertainty, some things was in our minds, like: what else is in this place?, what are gonna be their reactions?. When they arrived, the uncertainty was over and a group of people was there getting ready to give us a tour of the entire community. They told us a little about the community that there are families who have several years of living there, including some carrying more than 50 years, they feel belonging for the area. As they telling us about their lifestyle, we went through all the paths made by the inhabitants of the community, we realize that there are several uses, a community house, a small church, soccer, groceries, even a cornfield , have water service, garbage collection on Monday, some families have electricity. The houses are mostly tin, wood pieces, made with the few things they have and as they could. The community is bisected by the creek El Piro, which creates unsafe conditions for families in the area, but nevertheless have known how to live in those circumstances, since it is a strong community, organized with cooperation and teamwork , made up mostly healthy young, aspiring only thing that prevents them from being a formal community, are the legal issues of territory, which are working in the hope that someday accept their request.
